Semenoff Transport
Northland

With a history spanning 40 years, the Semenoff group of companies manages the unloading of vessels at wharves, as well as the storage and delivery of bulk product through a highly efficient and tightly controlled operation.
Principal Stan Semenoff, says his commercial focus is on keeping costs for rural customers as low as possible. “As a Northlander, I’ve grown up without the standards of infrastructure that have existed in other parts of New Zealand, and where the long distance travel costs can be significant.
“The best way to overcome these disadvantages is to keep a close eye on efficiencies and finding the most cost-effective ways of doing things. We deal direct with RD1 on imports and orders - our staff unload the ships at Marsden Point where we own the only bulk store, and then our trucks deliver the product.
“The communication lines couldn’t be better - and that’s great for our customers,” confirms Stan. A farmer himself for 40 years, Stan understands the needs of his rural customers. “As with our palm kernel and other operations, it’s all about efficiency and service to our farmers. We all have to play our part in maintaining our competitive edge in our markets.”
With a bulk tip fleet working in palm kernel expeller, fertiliser, sand and aggregate throughout the North Island, the Semenoff Transport group can also efficiently haul stock food blends out of Tauranga as an all round service to the farming industry.
Eagle Transport Ltd
Eastern and Central North Island

Eagle Transport Ltd is owned by Jack Shaw, who has been in business for 50 years. Centrally based in Tauranga, Eagle Transport looks after the region stretching from Rangitikei in the south to Waiuku in the north.
On behalf of RD1 Nutrition, Eagle Transport is responsible for the transport of PKE and other supplementary feeds from the Port of Tauranga to the Tauriko warehouses, as well as a bagging operation and delivery to RD1’s customers.
Jack is backing RD1 Nutrition’s strategy where ‘the rubber meets the road’. He has invested $6 million in a large, bulk PKE store at Tauriko capable of storing one and a half vessels of PKE. The building is designed to maximise PKE storage with a clearspan roof, and the walls include 8m high concrete tilt slabs; each tilt slab weighs as much as 30 tonnes! He has also invested in a fleet of sixteen bulky truck and trailers, the weighbridge facility at Tauriko and three large Volvo loaders.
The team at Eagle Transport is committed to helping RD1 Nutrition provide a great product and service to farmers. A vessel arrives at the Port of Tauranga every month during the dairy season and a team of 50 people will work around the clock to discharge the PKE. A 27,000 tonne PKE vessel equates to 900 truck and trailer loads, with a load being tipped off every 3-5 minutes and loaders stock piling to heights of 12 metres.
“We are the preferred PKE carrier within the region,” confirms Jack Shaw. “We are totally focused on supporting RD1’s strategy and our fleet is dedicated to PKE deliveries so there is less chance of contamination. Our business can be unpredictable at times, so weensure we offer flexibility and the utmost professionalism to meet our customers’ needs. We aim to offer RD1 Nutrition the assurance they need that we will deliver and to the highest standard.”
